On August 16, 1986, a Kern County Sherrif's Office Search & Rescue aircraft crashed in Hart Park. Killed were 46-year-old Douglas Moonen, 46-year-old Sgt. Marvin Kline and 50-year-old Ray Bockman, and Bockman's dog, a 3-year-old German Shepherd named Kelly.
